What you will do
This role of Sr. Manager Platform Services is a hands-on leadership role to plan, organize, and manage all IT Platform services for multiple technologies i.e. Oracle, SQL, SAP, Progress for application build (system set up) and operational support (Application fine tuning, performance, etc.). This is a leadership role, requiring a commitment to operational excellence, service management and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a passion for problem solving, strong relationships skills, application development and technical platform expertise and the ability to successfully collaborate cross functionally

This role will schedule and direct all team activities to address Platform related activities, incidents, and problem resolution on a 24/7 rotation. It will work with internal and external development organizations on a regular basis to assess platform needs. This role will also address/critique software and platform architecture cohesiveness while providing overall architecture guidance and oversite on a continual basis. This role is accountable to develop and execute platform roadmap that keeps the OS current and dependable for business users.

This individual needs to drive continuous improvement to stabilize/rationalize existing landscape and needs to have the ability to deliver platform strategy and architecture, enhance and build based on strategy, and provide support. The position requires a demonstrated ability to manage a diverse portfolio of requests, quickly mediate between competing priorities, and work effectively with IT colleagues, contractors, and business management both within and across business units and geographic regions.

This role is also responsible for the management, development and engagement of its people, including the hiring of staff, their instruction, coaching and evaluation.

How you will do it
Technical Acumen : You will be the owner of the Platform services for Clarios business globally. Some of the key application platforms used by Clarios are SAP, QAD (Progress), Oracle and Microsoft SQL. You will be responsible for creating roadmaps, reference architecture, including integrations.

Platform Management : You will work with IT business partners and external partners to enhance platform reliability in terms of capacity planning, monitoring, patching, upgrade, and DR management while working on simplifying the landscape over time.

Platform “BUILD” : You will lead the technical design, development, testing and implementation of IT applications through operating a metrics-based management system and provide internal and external staffing to meet the needs of the approved project portfolio and planned application enhancements.

Application Support “RUN” : You will provide reliable 24x7x365 platform support services for Clarios organization. You will be accountable to manage vendor relationship for externally supported services and ensure of SLAs and contract and hold team members accountable for proper, timely support of systems and restoration of service. You will lead root cause analysis of failures and ensure implementation of permanent corrective actions. You will track and report out on application support metrics and key outages. You will be responsible to assure secure and current application portfolio that is continuously monitored for uptime.

Team Management: You will be responsible for hiring and professional development of staff. Selects, develops, coaches, and reviews associates/employees and contingent workers. Conducts individual performance and development planning performance reviews, other supervisory interactions and proposes salary increases.

Business Alignment: You will meet with application owners to understand business requirements and to determine system requirements. You will work with customers to define and prioritize improvement initiatives and assist in building strategic roadmaps and aligning the business initiatives with IT initiatives to shape the IT vision and strategy.

Business Case Development: You will lead the business case development for system upgrade initiatives and assist business facing IT in developing business case, securing down/freeze times for system upgrades, and overall project strategies including project plans for major efforts.

Departmental: You will maintain global view of systems roadmap of the area of responsibility. You will participate in forecasting and long-term planning, implement long-term plans, use non-traditional/creative approaches to problem-solving, recommend new or revised standards, policies, etc. in areas of responsibilities. You will ensuresall assigned projects follow the appropriate project and portfolio management processes.

What we look for
  • Bc. Degree in Business, Engineering or Information Technology. MS Degree or MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years’ experience defining, implementing and supporting Information Technology systems with an emphasis on manufacturing processes and continuous operations.
  • 5+ years' experience managing and delivering platform design and operational excellence with 3+ years managing SaaS/hybrid applications.
  • Experience in managing outsourced solution providers, including contract negotiations, on-going operations and performance management.
  • Must have practitioner-level skills in systems integration (File, Message, DB, etc), and demonstrated abilities to troubleshoot within complex systems.
  • Must have practitioner-level skills in Service Management principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Must have experience in Application / Service Performance Management.
  • Action oriented, with the ability to understand and willingness to get into systems development details when warranted.
  • Results oriented with a “do what it takes” attitude.
  • Ability to clearly communicate at global as well as regional level.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience using structured methodologies and demonstrated project leadership skills with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to be successful in a fast paced, high energy environment.
  • Willingness to travel to support job responsibilities as required.

  • strong knowledge of Linux, Windows, Java, and .NET technologies. Experience with big data platforms, enterprise data warehouses, SAP HANA is a huge PLUS.
  • Experience supporting a 24x7x365 manufacturing environment is a PLUS

We are required by law to disclose basic wage component (minimum salary) for the advertised positions. We carefully consider your professional competencies, qualifications and experience in our compensation package and/or when offering you other positions. Our compensation philosophy is to pay fairly, also considering market situation and the value employees may bring to company. The starting salary is 3700 EUR/month gross for candidates who meet our minimum criteria.
However, candidates with two plus years work experience will achieve higher earnings.
