What you will do:
The Software Engineering Manager - DevOps provides leadership in design, development, deployment and operating of Caterpillar’s state-of-the-art digital platform. This position is accountable for hiring, managing, and mentoring engineering teams, delivering the department goals in areas like DevOps, Cyber Security and Software Operations, in line with Cat Digital Strategy. This position will lead world class teams, helping them efficiently and securely build software for Caterpillar’s Digital Application Portfolio.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Supervision of teams of Cyber, DevOps and Software Operations engineers, supporting the Cat Digital Development teams
  • Support the Cat Digital strategy, collaborates with global Cat Digital Teams and recognizes the service requirements/needs of the development teams and ensuring that they are building software according to the Cat Digital SDLC
  • Supervise a work unit of employees, where some review of subordinate work is required as well as training, development, and mentoring.
  • Be responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates, as well as overall employee satisfaction for the division.

  • A degree from an accredited college or university in relevant field (such as Computer Science, Technology Management, Electrical Engineering)
  • Six or more years of experience in hands-on software development team management role.
  • Experience leading software development projects and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical skills in software development, architecture, and design.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Top candidates will also have:
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering DevOps and/or Cyber Security and/or Software Operations practices supporting development teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership on medium or larger projects impacting strategic priorities.
  • Ability to cope with shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, delegate responsibilities and execute tasks in a complex environment.
  • Passion for technology and innovation and building high performance teams.
