Job description, responsibilities and duties

• To undertake an appropriate programme of teaching whole school Music
• To use a variety of methodologies which will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and the demands of subject specifications
• Be responsible for making best use of the NAE-Julliard School/MIT programme to create an exceptional art infused curriculum and co-curricular experience for students;
• Ensure regular and frequent opportunities to play and to perform;
• Ensure continuity across EYFS, Primary and Secondary and contribute to the development of curriculum, pedagogy and teaching across the school;
• To develop appropriate specifications, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, and teaching and learning strategies in your curriculum area
• To plan and prepare lessons as well as contribute towards ever-developing schemes of work
• To undertake assessment of students as requested by external examination bodies and faculty/departmental procedures
• To monitor and keep records of student progress, including regular input to the database system
• To mark, grade and give both written and verbal feedback on students’ work on a frequent, regular basis, with attention to individual learning based on assessment.
• To help to monitor and support the overall progress and development of students within the faculty/department, including those with special educational needs,
• To write detailed individual reports and to keep accurate student records of progress and effort against standard criteria
• To attend faculty & parents meetings as required

Personality requirements and skills

• Teaching Qualification QTS/PGCE
• Experience of A Level or IB, at least 2 years' experience (preferably UK), preferable at IB Higher level –with proven results
• Bachelor's degree in Music
• Proven track record with at least two years' teaching experience
• MUST be a Pianist
• Teaching experience in an International School
• Experience of using technology to improve teaching and learning
• Strong understanding of teaching EAL students
• Excellent understanding of Assessment methodologies
• Good communication skills
• Excellent Technology skills to enhance learning
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• Ability to work both independently & collaboratively in a team
• Ability to plan engaging lessons that challenge all students
