Job description, responsibilities and duties

Support for pupils:
• Supervise and assist small groups of pupils in activities set by teachers:
• Work with groups of children under the management of the teacher
• Work with children with special educational needs (SEN)
• Work with children for whom English is an additional language (EAL)
• Work with individual children
• Assist the class teachers to implement behavior management policies in accordance with guidance provided by the teacher
• Carry out any observations of children as requested by the class teacher

Support for the teacher(s):
• Be involved with teachers in their planning and preparation of the work
• Provide regular feedback to the teacher after group or individual work
• Identify pupils’ successes, achievements, breakthroughs as well as concerns and share with the class teacher
• Be familiar with and adhere to the school’s behaviour management policy
• Assist the class teacher in providing feedback to parents on pupil progress at informal meetings and prior to formal Parent’s Meetings; provide insight of relevant progress and attainment.
• Support the class teacher with displays, helping to create a stimulating learning environment, both in the classroom and around the school

Other responsibilities:
• Have an open invitation to attend staff meetings, and attend when keen to or where there are issues to be discussed which are relevant
• Be involved, under the guidance of their teachers, with outside agencies such as speech therapists, or educational psychologists. This involvement can range from helping with the administrative arrangements to assisting pupils perform tasks set by the specialist
• Participate in weekly meetings with the line manager
• Participate in year group planning meetings when necessary
• Support students during swimming sessions
• Undertake playground supervision duties
• Lead after school clubs as required
• Under the direction of the class teacher be a channel of communication to provide necessary communication with parents for whom English is an additional language
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
• Undertake regular appraisal as part of the school’s performance management appraisal system
• To manage your own effective personal and professional development as part of the Company’s commitment to invest in staff as the key resource in the organisation.
• Ensure that you meet statutory responsibilities and Company policies with regard to Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and other relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

• At least 2 years of experience in the similar position
• Experience from international companies is an advantage
• Very good knowledge of English (verbal and written) is a must

• Versatile person, adaptable to changes, strong drive and determination to succeed
