Job description, responsibilities and duties
RESPONSIBILITIES
As Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer, you will be a proactive member of the legal and compliance organization and the sub-regional management. Responsibilities include providing legal and compliance support to management and operations in 10 different countries and various legal entities in the South Central European region.
In this role, you will be a competent and trusted partner for business, functions and management at all levels, involving relevant counterparts at headquarters to contribute to virtual legal teams for the respective operating divisions (ODs) and service units.
In addition, your responsibilities will be:
- In-house legal advice to management and ODs on all legal issues, including commercial, corporate, antitrust, data protection, compliance and governance matters and implementation of legal, compliance & data protection requirements.
- Professional legal advice, including negotiations and contract drafting with special focus on commercial agreements, as well as strategic partnering and supply agreements with support of local external advisors. Registration in Legal Counsel register in Slovakia is beneficial.
- Assessment of business cases from a variety of legal, compliance and data protection viewpoints.
- Legal counterpart in strategic decision making processes with management .
- Budget responsibility for and management of outside counsel.
- Compliance and Antitrust trainings and Compliance case handling and investigation.
- Develop guidelines and tools for the organization related to legal and compliance issues.
- Managing the legal-and compliance community with meetings to share best practices and knowledge for Compliance & Data Protection topics.

Requirements for the employee

University education (Master's degree)
Educational Specialization
Law (with bar exam)
Language skills
English - Advanced (C1)
Personality requirements and skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Law, bar exam an advantage
- 5-7 years experience as a legal counsel in a business environment, preferably with a law firm or corporation.
- Good Solid knowledge and understanding of commercial and antitrust law, corporate law and procedure. Experience in M&A and regulatory matters is an advantage,
- Independence, responsibility and integrity, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and a business acumen.
- Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information and business driven mind-set.
- A proactive team player with initiative and drive, who enjoys building relationships with colleagues from various functions of a global company and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- Outstanding communication skills in both spoken and written English and Slovak or other Slavic language.
