Barger Prekop is currently recruiting Law Clerks. We are looking for a smart talent to help us with a variety of legal issues. This is an ideal time to join a dynamic and well-established law firm with a strong company culture. You will work with a group of friendly people, provide complex legal researches, draft simple legal documents and perform other work in support of our associates and partners.
This position would require a candidate who can work 20 hours a week and has a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills, a positive attitude, is flexible and open to working in a fast-paced environment.
The Law Clerk duties include:
• Conduct comprehensive legal researches within a wide range of legal areas (civil, commercial, administrative, criminal, employment, European, international) and specific industries;
• Monitor and prepare reviews or summaries of laws, statutes and briefs, case law, legal articles and legal literature;
• Prepare first drafts of legal documents (cover letters, powers of attorney, declarations, affidavits, correspondence to clients and authorities, simple letters to courts, information requests to various authorities, basic corporate documents, IP filings, simple contractual documents, etc.);
• Prepare contracts and other legal documents for signing and help prepare court, corporate and arbitration submissions for filing;
• Conduct basic analysis of issues and factual researches relating to pending cases and due diligence processes;
• Prepare translations from / to English;
• Inspect court, cadaster and other files;
• Communicate with courts, authorities and translators;
• Arrange extracts from official databases (commercial register, trade register, cadaster register, etc.), apostilles and superlegalizations of documents; and
• Perform administrative duties, such as organize case files, maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems.
