Job description, responsibilities and duties

SYSTEM ENGINEER - logical changes on LAN/WAN customer network

  • 8 working hours in EMEA & US time zone + engineers are expected to be flexible and to support customers in different time zones (irregular events in the evenings/weekends)
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • end to end responsibility for customer’s Service Request per Change Management Process, including project management tasks (liaising with 3rd parties, scheduling, execution of planned change request), customer single point of contact for assigned project
  • technical validation and preparation of the change request (script), execution of the change during scheduled window, testing & troubleshooting, root cause analysis, producing technical documentation
  • project administration & data processing in internal tooling (multiple applications, dBs, tools)

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
Follow-up/Higher Professional Education
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

  • University degree in technical field (Telecom/Networking) or Secondary school with relevant work experience
  • Strong English communication skills - both written & verbal (advanced level)
  • 2+ years of experience with Cisco configuration or network technical support 3rd level along with project management experience
  • Knowledge of change management process is advantage
  • Required CCNP / CCNP - SP knowledge (routing & switching), BGP & QoS
  • Customer handling skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Flexibility

Required technical skills:
  • Network design
  • IP subnetting
  • Knowledge of Network protocols: BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, MPLS, VRRP, HSRP, GLBP, etc.
  • Security, NAT configuration, Proxy server and Firewalls
  • WAN technologies: Ethernet, Frame Relay, PPP, POS, ATM, DSL, ISDN, etc.
  • PVC features: QoS, Multicast, VOIP, MIAB (multiple VLANs)
  • Hardware: Cisco & Juniper routers, switches, ASA firewalls, WAN accelerators, Riverbed, CSU/DSU, modems
