DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for a Tax Analyst to join PCS (Product Classification Service) Operations team in Bratislava, Slovakia as part of the Global Tax Calculation Services Program. This team plays a key role in defining the correct tax rate (sales tax, VAT, service tax, regulatory fees and other consumption taxes) of products Amazon is selling on its marketplaces and other e-commerce platforms.

We are looking for a smart, passionate candidate who would join our team with focus on regulatory fees and other special impositions across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented individual, with proven analytical skills and passion for delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders. We are functioning as a detached program which as a final product delivers automatic calculation solution for each specific fee in our scope. The team provide end-to-end solution starting with legislative research, product identification process (within Amazon catalog), feasibility accuracy analyses, testing and automatic solution deployments ending with post-launch monitoring activities.

Base pay for this position starts from EUR 1,791+ gross per month and salary depends on the skills and requirements, there will be further pay components such as a sign on bonus and the eligibility to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA. Key job responsibilities
- Research, and analyse regulatory requirements to determine applicability at all levels of government (e.g. municipal, county, state, country, region) at a global scale
- Analyze metrics, trends, and key performance indicators on regulatory fee intelligence.
- Creating step-by-step subject area guides and standard operational procedures.
- Evaluate potential downstream and upstream implications of new and existing collection solutions.
- Assist Legal team in operation and maintenance of regulatory fee due diligence.
- Communicate effectively to various business teams across multiple time zones.

A day in the life
This role is dynamic and agile and requires daily work with global Amazon Tax Teams to build the most efficient solution, compliant with regulatory requirements for all products available across Amazon businesses. Additionally, this role will require ability to dive deep into the legislation and understanding the requirements to be compliant. Scope of the role may expand according to team's needs and additional experience skillset of the candidate (e.g. SQL/Python; Project Management; Legal background and expertise) to suit the individual's personal development and career goals. Invention and ability to streamline processes, including participation in overall strategy and vision of our team is a part of daily routine.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree.
  • Prior experience in corporate finance sector (or tax in general).
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and manage multiple priorities while working toward targets and deadlines
  • Proven problem solving skills, attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills, decisive, and self-motivated
  • Experience working in environments with aggressive deadlines and production environments.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and achieve results.
  • Out of box and Critical thinking.
  • Experienced in using Excel (or other Spreadsheet software).
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior work experience in a regulatory fee compliance environment (e.g. Bottle Deposit, Battery Deposit, Environmental Fees, Recycling Fees and Sugar Tax).
  • Strong curiosity and desire to learn new systems and tools
  • Legal background or experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or other Spreadsheet software).
  • SQL or any large-scale data mining and reporting tools (or willingness to learn).
  • Can-do approach and results driven mindset
