Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
• Establish Web systems by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration and testing of server hardware, software, and operating and system management systems; defining system and operational policies and procedures.
• Maintain Web system performance by conducting system monitoring, analysis and performance tuning; troubleshooting underlying system (Linux/Windows) software, and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendors.
• Secure Web systems by developing system access, monitoring, control and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation.
• Upgrade Web systems by conferring with vendors and service owners; developing, testing, evaluating and installing enhancements and new software.
• Expand job knowledge by tracking emerging Internet technologies; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.
• Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Automate routine tasks, i.e. deployments, configuration changes, SW patches, cluster nodes remote maintenance, etc.

Personality requirements and skills
• Excellent knowledge (at least 3-5 years of active experience) of one or more well-known application/web servers: IIS, Tomcat, jBoss, Apache httpd, WebSphere
• Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting, bottlenecks and bug-hunting within platforms above
• Excellent knowledge of automation of routine tasks, in one or more Windows/Linux shells
• Very good knowledge of HTTP protocol, encryption (SSL/TLS) and load balancing
• Good knowledge (at least 1 year of experience) with Continuous Integration Tools, like Jenkins, Maven, Git, etc.
• Good knowledge of network basics and security aspects (DMZ, CORE network, firewalls, routing, etc.)
• Good knowledge of Linux (RHEL) and/or Windows server
• Good knowledge of typical deployment chains across multiple environments in clustered infrastructure
• Good knowledge of monitoring tools and monitoring best practices
• Good knowledge of VMware virtualisation platform
• Good knowledge of programming/scripting languages (Java, Python, PHP, etc... ) in order to be able to understand, track and debug application logs
• Ability and willingness to learn working with new technologies and concepts
• Ability to stay on-call for emergencies (done in monthly shifts)
