What can you expect?

Manage complex CAE projects to support development of automotive seating systems and components.

What will your responsibilities be?

• Independently lead CAE activities for his program(s)
• Frequent interaction with internal customer, occasionally serving as primary customer interface for CAE
• Regularly collaborate with other Adient CAE engineers (on-site, off-shore, 3rd party supplier)
• Project management regarding timing & deliverables
• Reporting on overall CAE status
• Support for CAE quote creation for upcoming programs
• Serve as CAE interface with internal customer and external OEM customer
• Ensure that Adient CAE methods are followed and applied. Collaborate with CAE colleagues and SDT to make decisions about when to implement the latest CAE methods
• Specify all inputs required for CAE and collect from design team
• Participate in ATR/PTS meetings and drive principles/practices within the SDT to ensure that detailed test methods are defined and aligned
• Supervise the pre-post-process of FEA results using software such as ANSA / META-Post
• Run explicit and implicit FEA jobs on our compute cluster
• Occasionally perform Multi body simulations (ADAMS)
• Review regularly FE models, reports, etc. Ensure quality of results
• Drive discussions with SDT to define strategy for design robustness and variation (setting nominal design targets in FEA, performing robustness studies, etc.)
• Identify opportunities to potentially apply CAE optimization tools and propose to CAE optimization experts and the design team. Drive optimization into programs
• Attend physical tests to support comparisons/correlations with FEA predictions. Lead post-test correlation investigations.

Additional Tasks:
• Advise design teams on the multiple contributors to FEA-Test correlation, including basic FEA-Test alignment (seat design level and detailed test methods), part & test tolerance variation, and FEA modeling approximation
• Periodically conduct basic engineering analysis hand calculations (FBD, stress analysis, etc.) to supplement and/or sanity-check FEA simulations

Which qualifications are we looking for in potential employees?

• Bachelor's Degree or above (Mechanical Engineering or related field)
• Strong academic performance in core engineering analysis disciplines, particularly statics, dynamics, and mechanics
• Years of experience in Engineering: 6 years minimum (preferably related to automotive seating)
• Years of experience in CAE & Structural Analysis: 4 years minimum
• English - C1 - advanced

Core CAE Software:
• Strong Ability: Seat model assembly (ANSA); FEA post-processing (Meta); FEA solver (LS-Dyna, PAM-Crash), Multibody simulations (ADAMS)
• Basic Ability: Meshing


Seat Design, Analysis and CAE:
• Expert Knowledge: Seating load case knowledge for most load cases (regulations, physics, key test method details, sources of variation, seat design enablers, etc.)
• Expert Ability: Interpretation of CAE & Test results (insight extracted; design recommendations provided)
• Strong Ability: BEA hand calculations; seating load case set-up and analysis in FEA (most load cases); understanding of Adient CAE methods
