Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer SMME Fastening

What can you expect?

Learning and using of Adient standards for general assembly process, product safety and equipment. Develop and maintain Design for Manufacturing / Assembly (DFM/A) best practices by reviewing existing designs and benchmarking – then comparing safety, quality, efficiency and cost to determine best methods. Lead DFAM workshops and issue resolution w/ AME as required. Develop standards, systemic procedures, & practices to strengthen our DFAM alignment with Product Engineering. Develop standards systemic controls with our Manufacturing Operating Systems “gate reviews” to ensure internal controls are in place to verify DFAM requirements. Facilitates, develops, and implements practices to improve the evaluation of designs for assembly and manufacturing. This includes, but is not limited to PFMEA, Process Flow, Operation Description Sheets, development of Core Manufacturing Processes, development of “Statement of Work” and plant support regarding fulfilling Adient Standards (travel activities between 30% and 40%). What will your responsibilities be?

Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (Focus Fasteners)
• Review existing processes in EMEA and worldwide network to define and document best business practices
• Compare safety / Quality / Efficiency & Cost to determine best methods and processes
• Deliver input for DFAM on Fastener related topics for innovation projects, quote projects, change management and serial life
Specification, standard and expertise management for Fasteners and fastening equipment:
• Development of new specifications and standards
• Continuous improvement of existing standards and specifications
• Study and document existing machine parc and its technical capabilities
• Become the central point of contact for manufacturing questions and issues related to fastening processes in EMEA
• Participate in assessment of best alternative fastening machine and processes suppliers
• Perform necessary tests in term of fastening systems including definition of tests, performing test in Burscheid, Solingen, Trencin fastening labs or on any plant-based equipment supporting the needed validations. Documenting the tests and issuing report and guidance based on obtained results
Being contact person for plants as a specialist for fasteners and for related questions and guidelines:
• Providing competent answers/solutions and guidelines to questions/issues related to fasteners and fastening equipment
• Sharing BBPs across plants
• Strengthening of plants knowledge and competences (trainings)
• Supporting other SMME and COE teams and projects
• Issue Deviation Authorization if and where necessary and in line with all safety and normative regulations

Which qualifications are we looking for in potential employees?

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or industrial preferred ) or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 5 years of automotive industry experience – Experience with seating products and advanced experience with fasteners and fastening tools and processes are a significant advantage for the position
• Working skill in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
• Working skill in product design or DFM/A
• Fluent English skills are mandatory
• Ability to effectively influence & work with a cross functional team
• Interpersonal skills - ability to work in a matrix organization and effectively lead without direct positional authority is required
• Strong communication, presentation and teamwork skills including the ability to write clear, concise technical documentation and process description
