Job description, responsibilities and duties
To deliver business environmental excellence for a world class organisation it is essential to ensure robust environmental compliance, deliver energy efficiency, and cost reduction opportunities. The business activities and operations are still developing and there is a new role requirement to support maintenance of environmental compliance but also engaging with teams to ensure change makes appropriate considerations of environmental benefits which should influence any decision. It is proposed that a dedicated Environmental Engineer be recruited to take a lead within the site, utilising existing environmental knowledge and competency and the ability and willingness to take ownership of tasks and activities A C level recruit is proposed.
This role is to perform operative tasks in the field of environmental management (waste management, hazardous chemicals management, water management).
You will be supporting these goals now and work closely with a range of colleagues in the Business Excellence team and wider to achieve this so the rewards are recognised at operation commencement.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Supervising work of contractors involved in disposal of waste produced on site (environmental duty of care audits) and ensure best practice is implemented
2. Engage with Implementation of the JLR Environmental Management System
3. Performing operative tasks in the field of environmental management (waste management layouts, waste segregation, hazardous chemicals, water management, emergency preparedness for environmental accidents on site)
4. Updating and delivering employee and supplier’s training programs related to environment
5. Maintaining accurate records related to waste management, chemical inventory, complaint investigations, and shipments and disposal of hazardous wastes
6. Maintaining and managing of environmental data in company IT systems
7. Cooperation with subcontractors in the field of environmental monitoring (emissions, waste water, noise, hazardous waste)
8. Keeping informed of current and proposed environmental regulations related to assigned work scope areas
9. Performing the internal environmental audits
10. Collaborate with implementation of the energy management system
