Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

- Support Safety related team at the plant and provide management and specialist strategic support
- Support delivery of budget and financial liaison
- Implement and coach on the requirements of Jaguar Land Rover's Health and Safety Management System, including implementation of all related policies and procedures
- Advise and coach local Leadership
- Engagement of senior leadership in managing and monitoring health and safety performance. Attend relevant business review meetings as requested to provide appropriate reporting on matters of health and safety
- Liaison at operational level with enforcing authorities
- Maintain plant data and reporting to Manager Occupational Health and Safety as well as local plant and leadership
- Support generation of standards, Best Practice Sharing and training needs
- Support appropriate audit and compliance activities for the plant
- Participate in management meeting with other colleges in the OH&S function
- Contribute towards strategic direction, targets, objectives and overall health and safety program requirements in Company Business Plan and Scorecards
- Support delivery of Health and Safety competency and training needs for site, implementing appropriate programmes as applicable
- In liaison with Advanced Safety and Engineering team support formal Health and Safety overview, review and approval of new major installations as well as modification of facilities, plants, equipment and processes
- Maintain standards with respect to PPE
- Comply with requirements to maintain JLR Way and contribute to upkeep of the same within specialism and functional responsibility
- Deliver requirements as defined through laid down and established processes, including, but not limited to:
• Accident investigation and follow up
• Near Miss investigations and follow up
• Risk Assessment coaching and advise
• Enforcing Authority reporting
• Metric reporting and communication
• Advise on safety matters such as maintenance of facility
• Oversee contractor safety management
• Advise on processes such as Working at Height, Confined Spaces, use of vibratory tools etc
• Management reporting and presentations
• Maintain scorecard and master schedules appertaining to Safety

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
Follow-up/Higher Professional Education
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Driving licence

Personality requirements and skills

- Positive people management, decision making skills. Good communication skills/English
- Strong engineering and knowledge of production systems
- Knowledge of Safety Management Systems
- Proven track record in delivering results
- Ability to tackle complex issues in high pressure environments
- Knowledge of auditing and compliance processes
- Knowledge of local legislative framework in respect to health and safety
- Investigation and problem solving
- Previous engineering expirience
