Experienced Java Backend Developer

• Developer work

As a Java Backend Developer in our company, I spend my days designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend systems using Java and AWS services. I optimize our applications to make sure they run smoothly, but also get the opportunity to build and develop brand new solutions, using RESTful web services and microservices architecture. I can use a variety of AWS services, such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and EC2, to build scalable and reliable solutions. I can also improve my Terraform knowledge, as we use Terraform to manage our infrastructure.

Some members of my team can also use their PHP knowledge to help with migration of some legacy parts of our platform to Java. 

I work closely with the frontend development team to create seamless integrations between the frontend and backend functionalities, as well as cross-functional teams such as database or AWS team to analyze business requirements and turn them into real-life solutions. Our teams work based on SCRUM and Kanban methodologies.

We are obliged to comply with HIPAA, keeping clients' protected health information (PHI) safe. Our goal is to follow ISO 27001, the leading international standard focused on information security.

• Tech stack requirements

To excel in this role, you'll need solid experience in Java backend development. Proficiency in core Java, Java EE, and the Spring Framework is a must. And of course, a deep understanding of AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and EC2 will make you an asset to our team and would be beneficial, but not essential.

I’m working mostly remotely, with regular weekly OFFICE DAYS in our Košice office, where I get to meet my colleagues, enjoy great coffee and drinks, chill in our relax room and, after office hours, I meet my co- workers and enjoy our teambuildings.

We are a leading American company, but we don’t have to work US working hours.

My colleagues can usually reach me within our regular core hours - between 9 AM and 3 PM. We are working in flexible working time mode and I’m able to manage my working time. And most importantly! My overtimes are automatically compensated on a monthly basis.
