Preformulation specialist/scientist

Zentiva the generics business for the Sanofi group, is the third largest and fast growing generics company in Europe. You will work in a dynamic development center located in Prague, Czech Republic. Biopharm group is a part of Solid state development unit which responsibilities are at the interface of research work, process chemistry, analytical chemistry and formulation science, and include:
- Selection of suitable API solid form(s) for drug product development
- Physico-chemical characterization of active substance solid forms
- Analyses of original drug product (reverse engineering)
- Modification of API properties by various concepts (e.g. stabilization by excipients, impact of disintegration on API release from drug product)
- Literature search and cooperation within team
- Methodology improvements
- Collaboration with partners within Sanofi group as well as academic institutions

• Manage team of preformulation specialists (job position: scientist) or become expert in the field of preformulation (job position: specialist)
• Characterize active pharmaceutical substances and drug products using range of analytical techniques including solid state techniques and in-vitro testing
• Experimental work in preformulation lab
• Strong collaboration with formulation expert during development of drug product
• Support project teams during the API and drug product development
• Provide data to support decisions prior to clinical (bioequivalence) studies
• Develop innovative methodologies and approaches
• Provide scientific expertise to others within and outside the group

• Education: MS or equivalent (minimum) or Ph.D (desirable) in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy or relevant scientific field
• Experience in the field of pharmacy for several years (ideally 3 and more years) is of advantage
• Experience in formulation science and technology is of advantage
• Recognized expertise in a specific area
• Thorough knowledge of state-of-art instrumentation/equipment and analytical/formulation techniques
• Ability to work in cross-cultural teams, ability to work independently and to make educated decisions
• Strong communication and presentation skills. Scientific/technical writing skills
• Good knowledge of English
