Database administrator – job description

The successful candidate’s responsibility as a database administrator (DBA) will be the performance, integrity and security of the company’s databases. You'll be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues. You'll ensure that: data remains consistent across all the databases and structures.

The Database administrator’s tasks are listed below but are not limited to the below:


• Supervision, troubleshooting, update and modify existing databases
• Propose new solution to increase data integrity, consistency and security.
• Responsibility for the performance of the company databases
• Responsibility that data is stored securely and optimally
• Ensuring company data security at and above the payments industry level
• Responsibility for the evaluation of future database software purchases
• Data warehouse, Big Data knowledge

Personality requirements and skills

Requirements:
• Proven work experience in Database management
• Good internal communication skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English language.
• Attention to detail
• Strong working knowledge of MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB
• Database mirroring, failover, load balance, backup
• Database schema versioning and new deployments
• Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
• Big data a and Data Warehouse knowledge and experience is an advantage
• Experience with NoSQL databases is an advantage – MongoDB, Elasticsearch
