Job description, responsibilities and duties

Our team together with you is responsible for taking care of an in-house built application, which is used for analysis and reserves estimation for Swiss Re. Our main customer is actuarial community within the company.

We are looking for an experienced, pro-active and curious Business Engineer who wants to take a meaningful role supporting our team of Business Engineers in the Risk Management InfoTech unit.

We are based in Bratislava and collaborate daily with colleagues working in various locations in Europe.

About the role
In your role you will support the actuarial reserving processes in our newly developed cloud based platform. The role requires end-to-end understanding of the system in order to support its regular maintenance, further development and to provide support to the actuarial community in the use of our application. Apart of "Business As Usual" work you will also participate on further improvement of the system, data integration, design and development of new interfaces and functions in close cooperation with Application/Data Engineers.

Your tasks will include:
- Monitoring of data migrations and reconciliations
- Ensuring accurate reporting and up-to-date documentation
- Providing ad-hoc analysis (incl. data mining)
- Communication with international user community
- Capturing further user requirements, their analysis and user stories preparation
- Cooperation with developers during implementation for further clarification and ensuring acceptance criteria are met
- Participation on internal testing of newly developed features, supporting user testing and successful roll-out to production
- You will have the possibility to further develop your skillset, both technical and professional as well as learning about crucial Risk Management processes

- You will work with cloud based data platform (Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Server, Azure Synapse) so some basics in SQL/Python or R language would be helpful
- Basic experience with PowerBI is beneficial
previous experience in IT project work is required
- You will use also Excel, Word, Powerpoint to help with analysis and documentation
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, insurance/reinsurance/actuarial work is a plus
- You have strong analytical skills, you are able to understand problems and work independently on solutions with focus on detail without losing overall picture
- Most importantly you are willing to learn and growth in your experience
- You can demonstrate good spoken and written English communication skills
- You are used to work in an agile and cross-cultural set-up and are willing to take on ownership and responsibility
