Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer contributing innovative solutions for multiple database platforms running on Public and Private Cloud.  The core aspects of this role lie on maintaining and supporting in a secure and stable way database platforms for all Swiss Re business applications. 

The role includes the following responsibilities:

•    Design, evolve and maintain multiple database platforms
•    Create, develop, and own data pipelines to move data across multiple systems
•    Automate data processes and improve overall code base
•    Build and run responsibilities working in an operational setup (incl. working in morning/afternoon shifts and occasional On-Call support)
•    Build close relationship with SwissRe Group IT and Data services 

About the Team

You will be joining a dynamic, very dedicated, and cross-functional Database team located between Bratislava and Zürich within the Global Technology Services department.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

Minimal requirements

•    University degree in IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience
•    Solid knowledge of Oracle Databases on a RAC environment (preferably Exadata's/standalone)
•    Deep understanding of SQL tuning and its optimization in Oracle
•    4+ years' experience in Oracle technologies
•    Strong analytical and Database Administrator (DBA) skills
•    Experience with ITIL concepts, platforms running in operational mode
•    Commitment to quality, care for detail and solution oriented
•    Hands-on attitude and willingness to learn
•    English language proficiency

Preferable requirements

•    Knowledge of Postgres technologies
•    One/more Oracle Certifications
•    One/more Microsoft Azure Certifications
•    Experienced in scripting in Shell/Bash
