Job description, responsibilities and duties

Swiss Re is looking for a Solution Architect to work within the recently established Swiss Re Life Group Digital Transformation Unit with in Group Operations, with a focus on driving SR to become a Risk, Knowledge and Data company.

You will actively work with key partners in SR in order to

- Formulate and refine the technology supporting business strategy of SR, its units as well as Swiss Re overall
- Developing technology and solutions for new Digital Markets and Ecosystems
- Work closely with internal and external partnersShape and define technical concepts
- Define and drive the integration technology of Business Units to group and other operating units
- Support the business in any due diligence and similar processes serving as the point of contact to IT
- Actively maintain the relationship in Group Operations, IT management
- Maintain the long-term view to meet customer requirements and key business objectives



You will actively work in a cross-functional and global environment with partners across Business Functions and Information Technology, applying end-to-end architecture development frameworks and consulting methodologies. She or he will co-create with other domains (e.g. CTO, CDO) as part of the team.

The role will report to the Head of Propositions.

A Solution Architect's mission is to translate strategy into architecture and technology solutions.

You hold a relevant university degree, have excellent command of spoken and written English, German would be a plus.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2) or German - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

Your professional experience includes:

- Several years of working in a Solution Architecture or similar role in an Insurance/Reinsurance or regulated finance environment
- L&H (Re)Insurance experience and technology affinity
- Building a network in SR and/or SR IT as a plus
- Demonstrate AWS or Azure Cloud Experience
- Able work in fast paced Agile environments (Scrum / Kanban experience)



During your career you developed and demonstrated

- Hands-on experience of software development in languages such as Python, C#/.net, Java
- Strong presence and both written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to drive and lead in multi-functional teams
- Confidence to engage courageously, challenge constructively and voice opinions in developing new solutions as well as improving existing solutions
- Strong listening skills, ability to remove any barriers by communicating and collaborating with other team members, handling and resolving blockers and issues.

- Help teams to develop strategies that de-risk delivery with vertical slices of delivery through the architectural stack.
- Allows technology & architecture to emerge through learning and avoid big up front design.
- Supports the Business or Product Owners, with advice on pro and cons of different technical choices and options, collaborates and brings together disparate parties including Squads, COEs, Internal Teams and Vendors to focus on a common aligned goal.
- Encourages and leads discussion within the Community on technical topics and improve the technology through feedback mechanisms
