With many new projects being taken on in fast expanding markets utilising the latest technology, our global automation team is currently going through a period of expansion. To aid this, we are looking for a collaborative and meticulous automation engineer to join our team.
About the role
As an automation engineer, you’ll be responsible for the pre-sales support, design and delivery of our automation solutions.
You’ll work as part of a team of automation engineers where you’ll work closely other functional disciplines to make sure you deliver projects and solutions in an innovative and successful manner.
Typical projects include:
Complete multimillion-dollar turnkey solutions
Upgrades and integration to existing solutions
Brownfield addition to existing sites
Engaging exciting new technologies encapsulating Industry 4.0 & IOT products and services
Developing emerging technologies and solutions that enhance traditional control solutions
Your responsibilities will include:
Programming PLC, SCADA and MIS/MES solutions
Providing support for customers with 24/7 support up to 1 week per month (possible travel)
Providing technical support regarding automation design throughout the project and bid lifecycles to the commercial team
Ensuring design and execution outputs are delivered in line with the time schedule, budget and quality requirements
Undertaking other technical tasks as required (for example, site surveys, feasibility studies, support to sales)
Innovating automation solutions to fulfill our customers’ needs
Designing new products and services
This is a challenging role where you’ll be expected to learn our standards and gain understanding of our procedures and processes. During your first six months, you’ll be working as part of a larger team getting an understanding of the business in close collaboration with our senior engineers. There may be certain projects where you may be allocated to the role of lead engineer, giving you the extra responsibility to lead a multi-disciplinary team.
Due to the nature of the role, you can expect to be travelling globally for around 30% of your time, giving great opportunity to learn about different regional standards and solutions.
Requirements
This is a challenging role which provides a good degree of autonomy. We are looking for people who have worked in a similar role in the food and beverage or pharmaceutical industries. However, we will consider other industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, and chemical.
As a minimum, we’re looking for you to have:
Experience with Siemens SimaticNET and TIA Portal
Experience with Wonderware InTouch & WinCC from Siemens
Basic understanding of English language – written and spoken
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the overall design outputs for the scope package
Although not essential, it would be an advantage for you to have:
Knowledge of control algorithm, control loops and control batch processes
French, Russian, German language skills
Full driving license
Experience with Rockwell PLC systems
Experience with Schneider PLC systems
