Job description, responsibilities and duties

PURPOSE
Are you looking for new challenges in the international accountancy? So become a member of the new IQVIA financial shared services center in Bratislava Slovakia, supporting our operations in EMEA, which is an integral part of our global SSC network.

You will assist the Team Leader responsible for the accounting and reporting requirements in completing the General Ledger statutory accounting, Statutory Financial Statement preparation and Corporation Tax reporting for the Company’s legal entities in a number of countries in EMEA, with support from outsourced providers where relevant. You ill be included in a broad range of day-to-day general accounting duties to ensure the entities’ books are complete and accurate and are reported to the US parent company in a timely fashion each month. The primary focus of your work will be to ensure strict adherence to US GAAP, internal financial policies, and ensure compliance with IQVIA Financial Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Your duties will include: to support month end process and statutory related processes within deadlines and instructions, to prepare or analyze financial reports, research and explain variances, to perform or review close related ledger tasks, e.g. accruals, provisions, journals postings.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure that accounting records are deeply maintained in preparation for independent audits.
• Prepare or review accounts reconciliations on timely basis and perform and review SOX controls in line with Group internal guidelines.
• Ensure appropriate communication with all business partners and support business partners in financial decisions, if required. Ensure business activities are appropriately reflected in the accounting records.
• Provide recommendations to improve existing processes and financial systems and suggest alternatives where appropriate.
• Maintain and improve technical accounting skills.
• May assume overall responsibility for small size legal entity or regional tasks.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• General Ledger Accounting background preferably with Finance Shared Service & international experience.
• Strong communication skills – effective verbal and written communication skills in both English and Nordic language (Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Danish).
• Attention to detail and a high degree of intellectual curiosity; inquisitive.
• Ability to exercise discernment within procedures and practices to resolve appropriate action.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and managers.
• Sense of urgency and need to prioritize multiple work requirements to meet deadlines.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in accounting; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Good analytical and numeracy skills and ability to identify financial issues and execute mitigating actions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.
• Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech.
• Regular sitting for extended periods of time.
• May require occasional travel.
