Job description, responsibilities and duties

The position is filled for Magna Electronics Slovakia s.r.o.
  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls activities with the objective of optimizing the total cost of purchases, while selecting the optimal capable source to support the program in all areas
  • Evaluates quotes received from managers and buyers
  • Communicates program requirements to the applicable purchasing team members
  • Tracks the cost model for purchased components and materials
  • Assists in development of the strategic supply chain with commodity team
  • Supports analysis of new trends in market & technology with commodity team
  • Assists in ensuring suppliers respond appropriately to the program team including issues of delivery, cost or quality
  • Develops long-term organizational strategies/plans to meet future platform needs and growth opportunities, participates in continuos improvement efforts for products, tools, processes and programs
  • Assists in driving the team toward the best possible price
  • Maintains supplier relationships that are both productive and mutually beneficial while continually assisting in the search for and renegotiating cost savings on new sourcing opportunities, with current and/or new suppliers
  • Complies with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS)

Personality requirements and skills

  • Knowledge of the application and delivery of advanced electronic systems into the automotive industry
  • Technical or business administration education
  • 5+ years’ experience in Purchasing or related field within a manufacturing facility
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office package, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Fluent in PC applications for cost racking, budgeting, program management
  • Expert knowledge of English (verbal and written), especially technical topics, German is a plus
  • Strong leadership qualities - including interpersonal skills that are required to lead, mentor, communicate
  • Ability to communicate, present and negotiate
  • Self-starter who is able to work in a fast paced and multifaceted environment
  • Strong and effective decision-making skills
  • Expert problem solving skills as well as keen analytical abilities in a teamwork setting
  • Willingness to travel
