Job description, responsibilities and duties

Under the hierarchical responsibility of the financial manager, the financial and accounting officer is in charge of:

 supervision of program accounts,
 the control of the consistency and reliability of field accounting records and the monitoring of accounting and management procedures.

MAGNA, an international humanitarian medical organization created in 2001, provides medical assistance to populations facing crises threatening their survival, mainly in the event of conflicts, but also epidemics, natural disasters or exclusion of care. MAGNA is present in Africa, Middle East and Asia.

The main objective of the Operations Centre is to improve the quality of MAGNA operational response by formulating, supervising and ensuring the effective implementation of its humanitarian medical activities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the hierarchical responsibility of the financial manager, the financial and accounting officer is in charge of:

 supervision of program accounts,
 the control of the consistency and reliability of field accounting records and the monitoring of accounting and management procedures.

- He/She ensures the integration of field accounting in headquarters accounting.
- He/She contributes to the implementation of the accounting rules and participates in the adaptation of the management rules of the missions.
- He/She participates in the accounting audit of the missions, at the closing of the accounts.
- He/She must also contribute to the security of the asset.
- He/She assists the financial manager in the administrative and accounting organization: cash management, securing flows, organization of accounting teams, optimization of accounting flows and financial monitoring of missions (analytical or specific budget).
- He/She provides advice and support.
- He/She accompanies field coordinators and all field teams, as well as cell managers in the domain of accounting and management.
- He/She takes an active part in the definition as well as the realization of administrative, accounting and financial trainings.

PROFILE:
A first professional experience in accounting or management in the field as part of a humanitarian mission with MAGNA or an international NGO is desired for this position. A standard level of English is required.

The expected skills and knowledge are:
- mastery of general and analytical accounting
- Excel proficiency
- knowledge of a general accounting software
- knowledge of SAGA desired


STATUS:
Local Czech/or Slovak contract for an indefinite period. Position based in Prague/or Bratislava. Field visits to be expected 15% to 20% of the time and according to the evolution of MAGNA Operation Centre.
