The role should support the STA vision of driving manufacturing excellence into the supply base of the given COC components and will require a mixture of operational, tactical and strategic activities.
This role manages current model programmes and supports escalations from the JLR Plant teams relating to quality or delivery performance issues impacting JLR ability to meet Customer First targets. (Zero Line-stop, Zero Mis-fit, Zero Holds, Zero Defects). A systematic diagnosis and practical problem solving approach will be required to drive root cause countermeasures of specific issues escalated from the plant teams.
The role will also require a more in depth systemic improvement approach for chronic suppliers who are continually impacting JLR Supply Chain stability. Management of these severe high risk suppliers will be through the JLR escalation process. This will be principally based on Value Stream Mapping end to end operations and identifying performance gaps then working hands-on to support our Suppliers implement and execute action plans to drive resilience into the existing supply chain design and ensure capability of all operations, technical processes and people.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
· Improve Supply Chain delivery performance to meet JLR Plant targets
· Improve Supply Chain quality performance to meet JLR Plant targets
· Crisis management of major Supply Chain incidents causing immediate disruption impact to JLR plants
· Support and lead improvement plans for Category 3 – Chronic Suppliers to successful conclusion
· Support and lead improvement plans for Category 2 – High Hurt Suppliers to successful conclusion
· Drive and lead multi-functional improvement teams to support improving Supply Chain performance and resilience
· Identify and manage improvement activity of Potential Risk suppliers based on underlying KPI performance gaps
· Support JLRQ nominated suppliers to achieve successful accreditation through structured improvement plans
· Communication of Supplier Performance status to cross functional stakeholders across JLR business

· A background in commodity manufacturing and assembly processes
· An understanding of key automotive tools and techniques to include APQP, PPAP, 8D, Practical Problem Solving, Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma
