Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
• Blow, push, or pull fiber optic cable through conduit following all industry standards and best practices
• Handle different types of fiber optic cable
• Use cable blowing machine and air compressor to place cable
• Reads engineering cable placement drawings and correlates them to physical plant
• Documents test results and any changes made as compared to drawings
• Assists in the coordination of OSP projects with other departments/vendors/clients
• Maintains existing fiber routes and facility locates as directed
• Maintains all OSP equipment (i.e. fusion splicer, trailers, vehicles, blower)
• Splice optic fiber connectors on the customer side to begin services
• Test optic fibers end to end and document results
• Assists in ISP projects as needed by other Field Technician

Personality requirements and skills
• Relevant work experience with fiber optic cabling and/or fiber splicing and testing
• Relevant knowledge of working with compressed air and blower machines
• Relevant outside plant construction experience
• Ability to work after hours or on weekends occasionally as required for callouts, emergency locates, or emergency repairs
• Able to work some overtime as needed and/or without advance notice
• Able to be on call after normal hours on a rotational basis
• Candidate must be willing to reside near or commute to Terre Haute, Indiana
• Clean driving record.
• Work a variety of schedules including normal duty and on-call duty. Schedule will include extended travel and overnight stays.
• Will be required to work night shifts ,overtime when needed and also work manage services.
