Job description, responsibilities and duties

SCOPE OF THE POSITION
Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe Regional Secretariat (GWP CEE RS) seeks a Project Support Officer to engage in new project development and existing project implementation across GWP CEE’s portfolio.
The contract offered is consultancy based, 160 days /month. It begins in November 2021 or as soon as possible and is offered for three months between November 2021 and February 2022. The initial contract can be later extended in form of full-employment.

The Project Support Officer will be integrated into the RS team and will be able to work remotely from any of the 11 GWP CEE countries. They will be accountable to the GWP CEE Regional Coordinator and working closely with the GWP CEE Project Manager.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
1. Project Coordination and Resource Mobilization
• Prepare and lead the preparation of Interreg and Horizon Europe project proposal in all stages from developing the concept, proposal design to its submission
• Work closely with the GWPCEE RS team to develop the project content, timelines, milestones, budget and define the GWPCEE RS, and CWP partners roles
• Cooperate and communicate with consortium partners and represent GWPCEE in project preparation teams
• Support the implementation of running projects,
• Contribute and cooperate with Financial Officer on sound financial reporting for projects
• If needed, support consultants outsourced for individual projects.


2. Strategic Support
• Collaborate with all GWP CEE RS Secretariat staff in key corporate functional areas, including: (i) resources mobilization, (ii) cooperation with GWP CEE partners in the projects, (iii) GWP CEE Knowledge Management and (iv) communication of GWP CEE activities
• Contribute to the reporting obligations of GWP CEE.

3. Administration
• Manage project budgets, compile the inputs for reporting, organize working meetings and travel related to her/his assignment both in terms of content and logistics, in compliance with relevant GWP Guidelines
• Participate in Regional Council meetings and other meetings called by GWP CEE Regional Coordinator

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in the field of water management, sustainability or environmental science, or relevant disciplines of economic, political or social sciences
• Minimum 3 years work experience, and at least 2 years of work experience in fundraising, project development and project management in the field related to natural resource management, climate change adaptation, and sustainable governance.
• Proven record in project proposal writing and fundraising, preferably for Interreg and EU calls.
• Proven experience in coordination and management of international and inter-sectoral or multi-disciplinary projects.
• Knowledge on existing funding mechanisms applicable in CEE region and beyond, on national and EU environmental standards and frameworks, • Experience in stakeholder engagement, policy interface, sustainable finance, non-governmental organisations and multi-cultural projects are of advantage

Skills
• An ability to organize and plan effectively proven by example in application documents. And ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, including governments, experts, civil society and the private sector;
• Excellent organizational and networking skills, team-oriented attitude and ability to work independently.
• Fluency in English is essential, knowledge of Slovak or Czech is desirable, Russian or another CEE language is a plus
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and different tools for teleconference and online events (Zoom, Miro, Teams)
