Job description, responsibilities and duties

GA Drilling are pioneering cutting edge plasma bit technology. To enable us to develop the tool we’re seeking an individual to assist in the development of a instrumented CT (Coiled Tubing) BHA (Bottom, hole assembly), with skill sets developed in similar industries the successful candidate will have an understanding of downhole pressure and temperature environments and the stresses induced in this setting.

The main aim of this role is to secure that all the hardware for tests in close to relevant environment (HP test well) and for operation in real environment (onshore and offshore field) is fully functional within the working environment meeting all performance requirements defined for the plasma milling application including requirements from the interfaces in the assigned time frame

With a background in CT or wireline product development the candidate will utilise these skills to develop the Plasma Bit technology including the delivery of the following:

- Parametric solid CAD modeling of products for prototyping and production
- Development of the sub-systems or elements in cooperation with external partners if such are identified
- Secures that all modules, sub-systems and elements fits the overall functions, requirements and performance as defined in technical design
- Material and component selection and sourcing
- Part optimization by assigning requests for analysis/simulation to other roles within the project group
- Design proposals and executes design solutions
- 2D documentation and creation of prototypes/ experimental modules including associated optimization processes
- Completion of related activities related to the primary job role as assigned by Team-Lead (direct report)
- Bills of materials and technical drawings development
- Modification of the designs to meet the required functions and technical requirements
- Proactive design modification of the module in order to reach higher level of reliability, assembly-friendly design based on inputs of other roles
- Tests definition for the purpose of design improvement and for the purpose of testing the design and performance functions
- Assembly definition and optimization of Plasmabit modules and the testing set-up
