About the Role
In this role you will define, lead and embed QA improvement initiatives based on consumer feedback and global activities, ensure compliance with internal and external requirements (Essity standards, policies and guidelines, certification demands, legal regulations) and support the commercial team on compliance, regulation, retailer needs and product safety.

You will support other teams in identifying continuous improvement possibilities; proposing and taking part in activities for corrective actions or improvements. You will have an outward facing mentality, keeping informed of developments in the external environment that may impact internal requirements eg regulatory changes, leading and contributing to finding & implementing effective solutions to these within a matrix organisation.

What You Will Do

There are three main streams to this position. Reporting to the Development Director you will:
Define, lead and embed QA improvement initiatives through:
• Collaborating with key stakeholders at mills and with colleagues across Europe to ensure product safety and quality compliance. This will include identifying and leading CI projects, implementing effective audit regimes and playing a key role on quality network groups
• Leading on BRCGS Consumer Products standard compliance and development processes, and represent Essity on BRCGS Technical Advisory Committee
• Acting as link between the global product safety team and product development team on product change initiatives and critical product complaints, together with management and improvement of our consumer complaints process.
Be responsible for retailer compliance by:
• Ensuring that for all tissue, personal care / baby and third party supplied products our suppliers and supply sites have appropriate Essity, UK and retailer approvals in place, supported with audits as required.
• Maintaining compliance status in line with policy and regulatory updates.
• Supporting the introduction of additional needs associated with new business development
• Acting as single point of retailer contact for ongoing compliance critical incident response.

This role is based in the UK with the commercial office located at Manchester Airport and the three key mills in Prudhoe (North East), Trafford Park and Skelmersdale (Both North West)

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

Be responsible for environmental and regulatory compliance by:
• Ensuring supporting material is generated and maintained to support product claims on Consumer Tissue (FSC, RSPO, product claims etc)
• Maintaining compliance with reporting requirements (eg packaging waste)
• Ensuring packaging sign-off for 3rd party logos eg recycling (OPRL) and FSC logos
Your responsibility in these areas will ensure compliance with internal and external requirements (Essity standards, policies and guidelines, certification demands, legal regulations). You will therefore need to keep abreast of developments in the external environment (eg: regulatory changes, customer changes) to identify and lead necessary change within our matrix organisation.

Who You Are
This role is all about identifying and managing change. Ideally therefore you will already have significant experience in a technical, development or a quality role, and through which you will likely have the following:
• Leadership of quality improvement programmes (could include QA system development)
• Product development and implementation experience
• Understanding and implementation experience of external standards eg ISO, BRC. Retailers
• Experience of internal audits, and preparing for third party audits
• Demonstrable experience of building effective relationships with customers particularly within the quality / development functions

Alongside your experience you will be someone who shows tenacity, can work to your own initiative and deliver results through having a solid business acumen. You will be a natural networker and be able to effectively influence key stakeholders.
