Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Storage Automation Engineer to join our Agile development team. In this role you will be responsible for creation and continuous improvement of the storage infrastructure automation in an IaaS environment. You will also be responsible for development of the back-end of the DXC’s Managed Virtual Private Cloud, an API-based microservices architecture, fulfilling API calls from the customer portal or from other internal components and services. You will work in a team of architects, infrastructure engineers, developers and QA testers participating on the technical design, modeling, coding, testing and release of the automated cloud solutions to production.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, build, test, debug, implement, and document new automation solutions, from simple scripts to complex automation workflows
  • Initiate design, develop new features, develop validation/test plans and provide support for rollout to production
  • Review and analyze information gathered in technical research; evaluate tools and methodologies to ensure that designs adhere to current industry, client and company standards
  • Translate business requirements into technical requirements and engineering deliverables including architecture designs, documentation, Bills of Material, costs, etc.
  • Assist in the completion of unit testing by preparing test data, running tests and evaluating results; develop test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs
  • Provide time and resource estimates for assigned projects
  • Engage in technical problem solving across multiple technologies; often required to develop new methods to apply to the situation
  • Provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel
  • Reuse existing tools and software where possible
  • Provide engineering level support for the deployed Cloud solutions
  • Support Cloud service deployments into new locations

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

  •  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience
  •  8+ years of experience automating datacenter infrastructure, preferably enterprise Linux environment using Bash, Perl, Python scripting or infrastructure automation tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Operations Orchestration, ONTAP Workflow Automation
  •  5+ years of experience with Storage technology (block, file, object) and Storage Area Networks (FC, iSCSI)
  •  5+ years of experience with system administration and virtualization (RHEL, SLES, VMware, KVM)
  •  Proficiency in Storage Area Networks (preferably Brocade) and Storage administration and management of at least one major vendor – HPE, EMC, NetApp, Hitachi
  •  Proven experience with infrastructure automation including provisioning, installation and configuration, monitoring, reporting, patching
  •  Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to design and scope multiple deliverables across a number of technologies
  •  Experience with Agile or Lean methodologies including Scrum or Kanban is an advantage
  •  Knowledge of OpenStack is an advantage
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills
  •  Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  •  Experience working in an international environment is an advantage
  •  Works well under pressure, in high demand environment with cross-cultural, cross-geographical collaboration
  •  Critical thinking and creativity in thought process as well as problem solving situations, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility, self-confidence
  •  Ability to assimilate multiple technologies / service requirements into a complete service design
