Job description, responsibilities and duties
DXC Enterprise Cloud Engineering is seeking a Linux Cloud Engineer who is excited to work in a fast-paced environment to engineer Cloud service platforms for our DXC VPC Cloud offering. A successful candidate will have deep systems design and implementation experience with strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, including VMware and Hyper-V, and a track record of successfully designing and implementing cloud platforms.
In this role, you will work as a principal contributor in collaboration with offering, architecture, and other engineering teams to optimize and automate our Linux based service offerings. You should expect to have a focus on Redhat Enterprise Linux and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server OS deployed both on a hypervisor and physical servers. The qualified candidate needs experience on virtualization, scripting, automation tools, Linux, network, storage, cloud enablement, and documentation in English. The candidate should be comfortable working under pressure to make feature delivery dates.
Job Responsibilities:
• Establish Engineering Standards for Linux environments used within the Managed VPC environment.
• Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex solutions. Coordinates activities with other technical personnel as appropriate.
• Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards for RedHat Linux and SuSE Enterprise Linux
• Assist with security compliance & adherence to security standards for the Linux products used within VPC
• Assist with automation development for the Linux products used within VPC
• Maintain roadmap data for Linux products used within VPC
• Maintain deployment documentation for Linux products used within VPC
• Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness. Oversees and implements system upgrade strategies.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems with the virtualization environment including VMware and Linux O/S
• Assist with development and maintenance of standards for VMware virtualization environment
