Job description, responsibilities and duties
The position of Chief accountant oversees the general accounting function, which includes intercompany accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting and balance sheet management, which would involve the following:
• Ensure company timely monthly financial reports are prepared in compliance with company policies and directives, IFRS and local GAAP reporting requirements
• Handle full spectrum of financial and cost accounting eg. AR, AP, GL, IC, CS and FA
• Month end closing activities
• Responsible for cash management and timely payments
• Coordinate internal group and external statutory audits
• Ensure that policies and procedures are in place, evidenced and adhered (internal control system)
• Analyze complex accounting transactions and review of accounting impacts
• Perform monthly/ quarterly/ yearly account reconciliations to ensure compliance with IFRS and group policies
• Ensure compliance and timely tax reporting
• Lead, motivate and develop the accounting team and ensure that the accounting department is trained to meet the objectives and responsibilities
• Ensure continuous process improvements
• Coordination with local authorities
• Become a Super User for finance system
