Payroll Controllership Analyst

We are looking for an individual who will dive deep into processes and who is adept at driving change within a very dynamic global business environment with a proven record of delivering process efficiency results. It is expected that the individual will ensure Amazon's Finance Business processes stay ahead of risks associated with growth in areas of process design, internal control effectiveness, computer system integration, and other relevant areas. The preferred candidate will have outstanding auditing skills, problem solving skills, Payroll process and system knowledge, and customer service passion

The analyst will partner with Payroll, Accounting, Compliance, Tax and Technology teams to develop and implement best in class Payroll Controllership processes and systems that will bring operational effectiveness, efficiency and financial reporting reliability.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Perform risk assessment, design internal controls for emerging and growing Payroll activities.
· Dive deep into payroll disbursement vs. accruals/liabilities, identify risks and develop inspection framework.
· Prepare inspection observations to present in monthly business reviews with leadership.
· Improve Payroll reporting/reconciliation processes in collaboration with Operational Excellence team through process improvement projects (e.g. Lean/Six Sigma/Robotics).
· Deliver Accounting Controllership projects to develop automated reporting analytics.
· Advisory support to Payroll colleagues in resolving Payroll reconciliation queries.
· Liaise with accounting team and Payroll vendors to effectively manage month-end close payroll reporting/accruals.
· Review Payroll statutory payments, due diligence and reporting to regulatory authorities.
· Support SOX302 quarterly attestations process.
· Improve Payroll Accounting Controllership awareness in regional/global teams.
