DESCRIPTION
Amazon is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead the Taskless Tax Team in EMEA. The Taskless Tax team is a core function within the Amazon Tax Team and is primarily responsible for Amazon withholding tax compliance. This position is responsible for overseeing the provision of technical tax guidance to support the execution of the operational tax functions related to withholding tax obligations. In this role, you will work closely with external advisors, other teams within Corporate Tax, Amazon’s business teams, and other internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with local withholding tax requirements including collection of tax identity documentation, application of withholding tax and information reporting to local taxing authorities and Amazon payees. The successful candidate will be detail-driven and results- oriented and have excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities. You should be passionate about leading and mentoring high-performance teams in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Key Duties and Role Responsibilities:
· In conjunction with external advisors, identify and capture the tax requirements, policies, and procedures relating to withholding taxes and information reporting requirements for EMEA-based countries as Amazon expands its business;
· Advise, support, and collaborate with Amazon stakeholders including business partners and other members of the Amazon Tax team, including Operations, Technology and Compliance/Control to minimize tax exposure and maximize business opportunities by identifying, developing, and implementing relevant tax planning and compliance activities;
· Ensure tax-related processes are standardized and executed in a compliant, efficient, and scalable manner;
· Create, monitor and report KPIs to senior leadership that support decision-making, measure performance and improve quality;
· Develop and maintain country-specific tax requirements documentation to ensure the appropriate level of detail is maintained for both audit and training purposes;
· Support system/platform implementation by ensuring tax requirements are provided in a practical way that can easily be translated into functional and technical tax requirements;
· Work with Legal and the Tax Contracts Team to ensure continued compliance and commercial alignment based on contractual arrangements, including new business initiatives;
· Review tax filings and returns prior to submission to local tax authorities;
· Promote withholding tax awareness in the operating companies including knowledge sharing and strategic perspective, liaising with the various business units regarding changes to existing systems, policies and procedures;
· Engage with government authorities when required to support audit requests and other policy-related initiatives. Support audits to both ensure responses and resolutions are appropriate and timely;
· Support special projects such as business restructurings, geo-expansions, mergers and acquisitions;
· Participation in departmental hiring/developing of team members and identifying the need for further resourcing of of the tax advisory function with a focus/goal of building a strong team, providing training necessary to implement best-in-class processes.

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Advanced Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or Tax Law;

· Minimum 12 years of tax experience relating to technical guidance and execution of operational tax functions such as withholding and indirect taxes, including management and preparation of tax returns and other reporting obligations;
. Oral/Written communication in English

· Prior experience in managing and developing a high-caliber team;
· Ability to translate tax technical requirements into scalable and efficient operational process;
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
· Strong project management skills and ownership of projects;
· Ability to travel internationally as required to align with department management;


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· CPA or Chartered Accountant or equivalent certification;
· MNC or Big Four international tax experience;
· Experience working with tax compliance software such GTCE, Vertex, Oracle, ONESOURCE.
