Job description, responsibilities and duties
The role of the AFS IT Specialist is to provide first line technical support to both AFS staff and underlying business systems and infrastructure. The IT Specialist will be involved in the building, designing, testing and implementation of current technology platforms and is a key resource responsible for Network Management, Active Directory, Security, Procurement, Licensing and Change Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Technical Support to AFS staff, including but not limited to Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office 365 Applications.
• Execute onboarding and offboarding process.
• Maintain and enhance diverse internal systems including open source tools (e.g. Proxmox Virtual Environment, Ceph software defined storage).
• Contribute to secure IT processes and tools.
• Develop comprehensive documentation including run books.
• Work with external partners, including consultants, agencies and vendors.
• Additional tasks include asset inventory, support ticket resolution via ticketing system.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, CIS (Computer Information Systems), Computer Science, or MIS (Management Information Systems) or equivalent experience in addition to below.
• Advanced troubleshooting methodologies
• Full understanding of client PC, PC server and networking principles, DNS, TCP/IP, Windows, Linux, and Microsoft Active Directory
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Hands-on scripting with PowerShell and other management tools
• Technical certifications in security and infrastructure areas Net+, MCSE
• Experience with compliant technology operations (PCI, SOX, SOC/SSAE, ISO)
