Backup & Storage Administrator

Part of a Team to design, implement, manage and operate the Server hardware, UNIX and Linux operating system, Storage systems and Backup. The Engineer executes the tasks self dependent based on projects or subject areas.

- Responsible for making available systems which provide the required functionality for IT services
- Responsible for technical design and implementation of IT Infrastructure services and components
- Important part of designing, testing and improving IT services.
- Ensure that standards and guidelines are followed, or that proper, consistent accounting or other practices are being employed
- This includes making sure that external legal requirements are fulfilled
- Support for developing the skills required to operate the IT infrastructure by a separate OPS Team
- Support for maintaining information about Configuration Items required for delivering IT services
- Support for maintaining a logical model, containing the components of the IT infrastructure (CIs) and their associations
- Takes over Incidents which cannot be solved immediately with the means of 1st or 2nd Level Support
- If necessary, it will request external support, e.g. from software or hardware manufacturers
- Grants authorized users the right to use a service, while preventing access to non-authorized users
- Business trips to Vienna

Requirements

- Expert knowledge in UNIX/Linux (Redhat/Oracle Enterprise LInux)
- Working Knowledge with virtualization technologies (Vmware) and Containerization (Docker)
- Understanding of TCP/IP network fundamentals
- UNIX scripting skills using Bash, Perl, Ruby, etc.
- Hardware Knowhow x86 Servers
- Working knowledge in enterprise landscapes with hundreds of servers
- IT Security
- ITIL Basic Know-How is an advantage
- Experience in Automation technologies (BMC BSA, Puppet) is an advantage
- Experience with Storage Systems (SAN und NAS) and Backup
