Job description, responsibilities and duties

Coordinates and aids with all aspects of project and event support for Military-to-Military, Civilian-to-Military and Civilian-to-Civilian exchanges for the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) and Bilateral Affairs Office. Conduct liason duties between Slovak Ministry of Defense, ODC, U.S. European Command, Indiana National Guard, and civilian entities for any Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Bilateral Affairs approved events. Initiates and coordinates all support aspects of approved events to include visa arrangement, flight and hotel reservation, itinerary, orders, etc. Maintains correspondence and establishes office files for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case and State Partnership event tracking and historical archives. Coordinates logistical support requests for FMS or Indiana State Partnership events and submits them to the US Embassy Bratislava for processing, as required. Translates and interprets for all assigned ODC and BAO events, for all levels of representatives from military or civilian levels. Coordinates, administers, plans and executes all other assigned ODC and BAO duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Completed two years of university

Work Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of experience translating/interpreting Slovak to American English language and vice versa.

Language Proficiency: Level 4 (Advanced) , Slovak and English language fluency required. The ability to conduct sequential translation required.

Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of logistic operations and systems. Individual must have excellent organizational and planning skills. Individual must have intimate knowledge of protocol and social skills to coordinate and socialize with U.S. Department of State, U.S Department of Defense, Slovak Ministry of Defense, and other international high-level representatives. Individual must have ability to gather pertinent information, and aide development of Situational Reports (weekly) and Significant Activity Reports (monthly) for submission and review by ODC. Individual needs extensive abilities with Microsoft Windows and Office programs to include: Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher and Explorer. A comprehensive understanding and ability to use the Internet is also needed. A Slovak and U.S. Army Europe drivers license or the ability to qualify for them upon job hire is required. A valid passport is required.
