Job description, responsibilities and duties
This role offers a rare opportunity to combine your love for numbers with project work and provides great chance to improve your communication and business interaction skills.
You will cover end-to-end accounting and partial reporting for Real Estate entities including provision of information to other areas of Swiss Re Group for business steering and tax purposes. Additionally, you will also work on policy setting, process improvements, identification and implementation of Real Estate relevant projects, such as transition to IFRS. You will report to the Head of Real Estate Accounting & Carrier Advice.
This position is a maternity cover, but in Swiss Re our talents have a wide range of Finance jobs available for further career development. We will also support ACCA and other financial qualifications.
What does the role offer?
Accounting tasks:
• Accounting for real estate investments and own used properties
• Monthly and quarterly preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
• Review of construction projects
• Regular cooperation with internal Tax, Finance, and Asset Management units as well as with external property managers
• Compilation of reports and ad hoc analyses
• Support of external & internal audits (preparing data and explanations)
• Support the tax team with preparation of quarterly VAT-filings
• Transactional level reporting to the business
Project tasks:
• Support of an on-boarding process for new assets / property managers (for accounting questions primarily)
• Actively working on assigned projects focusing on standardization and automation of the accounting and reporting processes and target operating model
• Responsible for running the discussions, managing stakeholder expectations as well as leading the projects the most efficient and beneficial direction
• Proactively engaged, including launching new ideas and providing suggestions to overcome difficulties

Our team based in Bratislava is responsible for real estate accounting activities for all of Swiss Re's worldwide real estate portfolio represented by investment properties and owner-occupied properties.
Our team enables close and informal cooperation fostering trust among team members, with family-like atmosphere.

• You have an university degree in the area of finance, accounting, economics
• You possess at least three years relevant experience as a financial accountant or similar
• Your experience with Real Estate or Fixed Assets accounting is an advantage
• You have great social and communication skills
• Experience in SAP is beneficial
• Fluent English written and spoken, German is an advantage
• Adherence to deadlines and self-driven task completion
• Flexible working attitude, being able to easily adapt to changing environment and priorities
• Advanced level on Microsoft Office (Excel – Pivot Tables, Word and PowerPoint)
