About the Team

You will join the Operations & Strategic Initiatives team in Swiss Re Institute (SRI). Our unit develops and uses knowledge and forward-looking research to steer Underwriting in Swiss Re. Within SRI, our team is responsible for supporting the Group Chief Underwriting Officer and the SRI Executive Team in addressing matters related to Strategy, Operations and Governance. For example, we work on the SRI strategy and priorities, and we also monitor effectiveness of actions and plans. We also get involved in strategic initiatives as required. Operational tasks include managing the budget and CO2 for SRI, running several key committees and working closely with Communications. Additionally, we have governance responsibilities for the Group Underwriting Standards.


About the Role

This role plays a key part in achieving our goal of building the world’s best Underwriting community with a focus on running the end-to-end annual assessment process for our Underwriters; in addition, this role is involved in delivering SRI Operations tasks ranging from communication to cost management and from strategic initiatives to governance.


Key tasks:
- Annual UW assessment process responsibilities include:
- Preparation of the annual assessment process which will include the consolidation of the assessment profiles, flagging any inconsistencies, proof reading and preparation of the capability catalogues
- Maintenance of the key data sources (employee mapping file, profiles and competency catalogue, distribution lists, etc.)
- Testing of the forms/dashboard and following up on the change requests with the developers
- First level support of the assessment run (processing ContactOne tickets)
- Preparation of regular reports on the assessment completion rates and report out of the results
- Communication tasks associated with the annual assessments include the creation and maintenance of an attractive SharePoint page and contributing to the formulation of key communications and development of any supporting material (e.g., user manuals)

Reporting tasks including reporting timeline management, regular status reporting for the Group CUO and SRI Executive Team, co-creating presentations for senior stakeholder groups.

- Very well organized (while staying flexible in case of change)
- Able to organize, coordinate and steer complex processes end-to-end
- Analytical skills (working with data and excel spreadsheets, preparing the report out summaries on assessment results, contextualizing the data into a compelling narrative)
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Pragmatic with an 80/20 mentality, but getting the important things to 100%
- Motivated, can-do attitude, committed, willing to learn, forward-thinking
- Highly collaborative, ability to build a network quickly
- Communicates clearly, effectively, and audience-oriented across hierarchy levels
- Proficient in English (also written)
- Preferably some insurance industry experience
- A consulting background, intermediate project and change management skills would all be a plus
