Join our team as Head of Learning & Development

The Head of Learning & Development is a senior position in our Organisation & People Development (OPD) function. We are one of three Centres of Excellence within Human Resources. As our new colleague you will lead a team of talented professionals and will be a member of the OPD Leadership team.

Since we are a knowledge company, employee development is a fundamental part of our philosophy and strategy as it contributes significantly to the success of the firm.

You will be responsible for learning and development globally ensuring this is aligned to Swiss Re's strategy and business priorities. You will take care of L&D strategy, shaping learning culture, relevant governance and the eco-system required to make learning as effortless as possible and personalised for employees. Your content scope is wide including leadership skills, soft skills, sales, finance, young talent programs and more.

You and your team will also work closely with the business on technical capabilities where these relate to major initiatives or transformations. The business units will take the lead, but you will be a valuable partner using your expertise to steer the approach for learning and the architecture for solutions.

To be successful in the role you will collaborate with other expert functions, for example Talent, Inclusion & Diversity, Strategic People Planning, Executive Leadership Development and more. You will partner with a wide stakeholder group including colleagues, for example in HR, the Business Units and IT. You'll demonstrate great leadership and will drive a culture of performance.

The team is located across several major Swiss Re offices globally and is often embedded into broader working groups in OPD, regularly working as part of agile teams on major deliverables.

We are looking for a true team player who enjoys and is successful collaborating in our well networked company.

You will have deep expertise in L&D but it is important you can show how you can integrate this into broader HR solutions resulting in simple and seamless experiences for our employee colleagues.

You are likely to demonstrate many of the following characteristics:

- Excellent understanding of and experience in 'new ways of learning' outside of traditional learning methodologies and approaches
- Sound understanding of progressive learning trends, digital solutions and technology supporting and driving learning
- Very open minded towards new approaches and ways of working
- Analytical mind who is digital savvy and understands how to achieve results through applying best in class digital solutions and technology
- Commercially focused and able to translate business strategy into relevant learning and development interventions well connected to wider HR solutions
- Ability to influence at a senior level in the organisation supported by excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Great leadership and interpersonal skills in order to develop talent and to motivate colleagues across the globe to deliver at their best
- Learning agility is necessary to quickly understand the business which means specific insurance industry experience is not required
- Likely to have Master’s degree level or higher professional qualifications in any subject connected to - - People and Development disciplines
