About the role
Team Lead Reinsurance Accounting will manage a team of accountants and analysts, working in the field of financial accounting, closing and reporting activities related to Intra-Group Reinsurance (IGR) for Corporate Solutions on a global level. IGR is an activity where one company within Swiss Re Group insures activities of another company.

The team supports the steering and governance of IGR contracts and is responsible for the technical implementation, calculation, accounting, reconciliation and settlement of those contracts on a quarterly basis. They are also involved in the quarterly financial closing and yearly planning, supporting the legal entity analytics for all relevant valuations (US GAAP, Stat, Ultimate Values).

The role will interact frequently with a number of key stakeholders, including Corporate Solutions and Reinsurance embedded Finance teams, CFOs, Actuaries, Risk Management, Auditors, Capital Management, CorFiT (CorSo

Finance Transformation) project and other (Finance) functions.
As we continually strive to improve on what we do, the role is expected to always look for, and implement measures to increase process efficiency. It will also play a key part in supporting the implementation and testing of the newly build IGR calculation system which will be rolled out as part of the new dedicated Finance landscape resulting from CorFiT.

Main tasks:
Leadership
• Manage and develop the new Corporate Solutions IGR team in Bratislava
• Lead and support training activities related to their area of expertise
• Manage team workload, monitor and measure performance
• Cooperate closely with peers in Bratislava and other locations
• Support other team members and provide expert knowledge when needed
• Perform all administration tasks related to team management

Technical
• Controlling of the quarterly IGR results, and contribution to analytics for supported legal entities
• Further enhance global IGR processes and calculation engine together with Finance IT
• Contribution to strategic Finance projects, in particular any CorFiT implementation activities. This refers to activities such as:
- support the to-be process and control documentation
- test the new dedicated IGR calculation system (CorFiT)
- submit change request for improvements / potential additional requirements

About the team
As a key Finance Corporate Solutions leadership position in the location, you will also assume people management responsibilities for related teams in collaboration with functional manager.

University education (Bachelor's degree)

Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Personality requirements and skills

About you
• Master's Degree in Finance or Accounting
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in a role relevant to Accounting or Financial Reporting, with good understanding of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
• US-GAAP and/or IFRS trained accountant, preferably with working experience in insurance and/or banking industry
• Experience in working in a large multi-national environment
• Previous exposure to insurance or reinsurance is an advantage
• Independent and proactive, with excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to understand and adapt fast to complex work-flows and systems
• Ability to set priorities and keep set deadlines
• as this is a senior role, the candidate is expected to be able to work independently and proactively, while maintaining good working relationship with other team members and key stakeholders
• Ability to fluently communicate in English (C1 minimum) is a must
