About the role

We, the Asset Management (AM) Finance team, lead and facilitate all financial matters related to the Group’s investments, including financial and performance reporting. Within our team, your primary responsibility is the facilitation of timely and accurate delivery of all investment related US GAAP reporting for the Group and Business Units.

Working closely with the Head US GAAP Investment Reporting, the CFO AM as well as many colleagues across Finance and AM, you will gain a deep understanding of the end to end value chain.

Under your stewardship, the US GAAP reporting process will encompass interaction across a myriad of stakeholders, including partners across the Group and Business unit Finance organizations as well as within AM. You will serve as a key liaison from AM Finance on all relevant US GAAP reporting matters.

The role requires a strong balance of technical and presentation skills, with the ability to facilitate varying degrees of communication across stakeholders. A strong working knowledge of investments as well as a deep understanding of US GAAP and optimally EVM principles as it relates to investments is critical.

The team also serves as a control, governance and steering function for Asset Management more broadly. The members of the AM Finance team are based in New York, Armonk, London, Bratislava and Zurich.

Your responsibilities as the Vice President US GAAP Investment Reporting are to review and coordinate all US GAAP investment reporting deliverables, including:
• Quarterly results conference materials, investor presentations including Q&A, MD&As, media releases, BoD reports and forecast preparation
• Monthly general ledger reconciliation to interim reports
• Weekly investment projections including variance commentary for senior management (mainly Group CIO and CFO) as well as BU forecasts
• Regulatory, rating agency and ESG reporting requirements (i.e., surveys and capital inputs) as they relate to the investment portfolio
• Interim reporting such as BU Newsletters and BU specific investment committee reports

In addition to the standing deliverables you will:
• Serve as the key liaison between AM and the Business Unit (BU) Finance teams as well as Investor Relations/ Group Reporting/ Communications, acting as a key partner and ensuring consistency of the "story" throughout
• Deputize the Head US GAAP investment reporting standing in as presenter of investment results to various BU committees as needed
• Mentor more junior members
• Contribute to accounting working groups for special transactions e.g. Principal Investments, Large Re-Insurance transactions, hedge programs (including on-going effectiveness testing)
• Participate in accounting projects e.g. adaption of new US GAAP standards as well as the transition to IFRS
• Ensure positive working relations with partners who provide inputs into the reporting process and deliverables
• Determine areas to increase efficiency/reduce ambiguity within the investment reporting process as well as the organization as a whole
• Actively liaise with P/L stakeholders
• Promote / facilitate a robust control environment

About you

Required Skills / Qualifications:
• University graduate with a primary degree (or equivalent) preferably in Finance or Accounting
• 5+ years of related work experience
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and / or IFRS investment accounting; basic understanding of EVM a plus
• Excellent analytic ability and experience with data applications
• Ability to manage a global process
• Strategic mindset and client focus
• Team player with the ability to work collaboratively; influential
• Strong communication skills; proficient in English (speaking and writing)
• CPA or similar accreditation a plus
