Job description, responsibilities and duties

The team fulfils a dynamic role including segment and group financial reporting, partnering with the business and supporting various governance and decision taking bodies within Corporate Solutions. On a daily basis, we have contact and collaborate with the various other finance functions (i.e. FP&A, Capital & Liquidity Management) as well as other areas of the business, such as Underwriting.

As a member of the team, we are looking for a highly motivated individual who will support the EVM financial reporting and consolidation process for the Business Unit Corporate Solutions.
The candidate should ideally have an understanding of Swiss Re's EVM concept as well as traditional re(insurance) and derivative business which will allow the candidate to understand, analyse and review the EVM financial results produced. A key responsibility will be the quarterly review of the EVM technical underwriting results and linking it with the inputs and parameters received from various other finance, risk and underwriting teams.

Working within the Finance Corporate Solution team, you will join a highly motivated and dynamic team within an interesting and complex environment and will get the opportunity to build up reporting, consolidation & analytical capabilities.

The Corporate Solutions Consolidation & Reporting team is responsible for consolidating the segment financial statements and commentaries for quarterly US GAAP and Economic Value Management (EVM - this is an internal economic valuation of Swiss Re) reporting and driving operational excellence in finance controlling and reporting activities.

Main tasks:
• Develop an advanced understanding of EVM for underwriting activities and understand the differences compared to traditional valuation approaches
• Understand and document the quarterly EVM parameter inputs
• Review and analysis of the EVM underwriting results produced
• Support the EVM finance manager specifically with regards to the review of the EVM results produced and support further improvements on the production process
• Support other finance functions (i.e. FP&A, legal entity teams) with regards to internal EVM reporting deliverables
• Evolve in a multi-disciplinary environment and work closely with finance and risk management experts to ensure complete and accurate EVM results
• Own the way you work and have the possibility to make a difference
• Facilitate, plan, maintain and enhance processes, timelines and reporting templates (within EVM and other areas such as US GAAP etc.)

Requirements for the employee

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Personality requirements and skills

Education/Professional
• University graduate with a primary or higher degree (or equivalent), preferably in finance/accounting/economics and with at least 2 years of relevant working in financial accounting or controlling activities preferably within a (re)insurance environment
• Previous experience in finance desirable
• Experience within the non-life insurance industry is an asset
• Strong ability to analyse and interpret financial data

• Eagerness to learn and gain EVM and finance reporting experience
• Ability to swiftly understand and grasp complex concepts and subjects

• Team player with strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
• Very strong MS Office skills required, specifically Excel
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written)
• Stress resilient, with the ability to work independent
• Demonstrate personal accountability for area of responsibility
