Proposal specialist

The purpose of this role is the responsibility for the bidding process regarding large, complex proposals including service solutions, process design consulting or manufacturing services. Manages the bid submission process from initial contact through contract signing; places particular emphasis on establishing the trading terms. May also be responsible for validating/endorsing the technical solution.

• Identify proposal risks, e.g., areas where the proposal fails to meet customer specification, or where company may be at a competitive disadvantage, and initiate appropriate action to minimize these risks. E.g. Create compliance and/or deviation tables to the RFQ.
• Review and interpret customer technical specifications, working closely with technical support consultants or account representatives to develop the layout of the proposal, and to resolve the more complex technical questions that may arise during proposal development.
• Prepare proposal schedule, notifying all involved parties of commitments and deadlines and soliciting active account manager participation from the sales force. Coordination with other departments to gather accurate information required for the proposal.
• Apply detailed knowledge of company policies and organization to ensure that all issues/questions are resolved before proposal is turned over to operations. May be required to visit customer sites and participate in product demonstrations.
• Work independently with customer specifications, configure the control systems for the proposal, and determine the scope of the project and the value-added services involved, compile project costs and provide pricing data necessary for discount authorization requests.
• Generate final customer proposal, utilizing PC based graphics and desktop publishing packages, to develop a product which is both accurate and aesthetically appealing to the customer.
• Apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Perform all other inside sales functions, as required.
