Job description, responsibilities and duties

As a UX Design Engineer you will have a critical hands-on role responsible for the design, development and delivery of our next generation user interfaces and experiences. You will help PDI expand the content and components within our Design System to address the variety of front-end patterns utilized by our product teams.

You will serve as the bridge between designers and product engineers to ensure teams are equipped with the necessary components to build quickly and consistently. From a design perspective, you will help PDI apply an objective approach by designing specifically around user’s needs and support validating concepts via user testing. A key to your success is the ability to move quickly between design and development tasks.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Build reusable code and libraries for product teams
  • Design components and help to maintain the style library and HTML/CSS components
  • Maintain and support PDI’s Design System and methodologies
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UX designs
  • Work closely with the Product and UX team to understand specific use cases across products to standardize design patterns and document alternatives when needed
  • Help to optimize designs so that applications achieve maximum speed and scalability
  • Solve complex interface problems through collaboration with stakeholders, product and engineering teams to continuously expand and improve inputs into the Design System
  • Identify and solve technical issues within scrum teams
  • Stay on top of UI frameworks/technology trends and best practices for web and mobile

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
Follow-up/Higher Professional Education
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

Required
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years as a professional UX Engineer
  • Understanding of UX design patterns and principles
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on skill on HTML, CSS, Sass/Less and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Expert knowledge in Angular (2+), React or other frameworks
  • Familiar with Angular Material and Bootstrap layouts
  • Experience working in Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD
  • Experience with creating UI designs and translating those designs to code
  • Experience with front-end development tools such as Visual Studio Code
  • Experience with responsive design programming
  • Ability to work in an agile (Scrum) team
  • Ability to work and collaborate closely with UX designers, research and backend developers
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with ability to convey the feature goals that rely on user centered stories and use cases
