Manager VAT oversees and manages all VAT compliance processes across the countries assigned to the incumbent, and ensures compliance with the applicable VAT laws and the Mondelez indirect tax policy. The position approves the VAT returns and associated declarations for all Mondelez entities under his/her remit and ensures timely and accurate reporting to the management and external authorities. In addition the Manager VAT manages all VAT inspections performed by local tax authorities, and closely interact with the local and regional direct tax departments on common direct and indirect tax inspections. The role leads VAT related projects (such as for example implementations required because of legislative changes) and the VAT work-stream in other strategic projects (such as for example mergers, acquisitions or divestitures), either Performing coordination in testing/projects/various ad-hoc tasks. Bringing ideas for simplification and harmonization of VAT processes into practice.


Main responsibilities:
  • Oversight of VAT compliance for MEU region
  • Manage and design the VAT review and approval workflow Genpact/Mondelez
  • Coordinate approval of VAT payments, approve VAT returns and other associated tax and statistical declarations
  • Lead local VAT inspections and provision of VAT relevant documents to tax inspectors
  • Investigate day-to-day issues within the assigned country cluster
  • Backup Senior VAT Analysts and/or the Manager Indirect Taxes MEU
  • Provide updates to Genpact VAT team about procedural, legal or technical changes in Mondelez and training as appropriate
  • Manage and oversee processes centralized in the VAT team, such as Foreign VAT recovery, VAT relevant material master data and special external reporting, as per local legal requirements in all MEU countries
  • Coordinate and actively support on VAT matters in strategic projects and advice other functions on VAT legal matters, processes and procedures

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in the area of VAT within international organization
  • Sound knowledge of VAT in Europe, including extensive knowledge of all local VAT laws and the related accounting rules
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of SAP system
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of business needs and customer oriented attitude
  • Very good leadership and influential abilities
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Fluent English is a must
