Supplier Quality & Development Engineer
Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
- Assists commodity in panel reviews and sourcing selections
- Ensures supplier understanding and compliance with specifications, processes and procedures
- Supports on-time availability of interim deliveries such as prototypes and ODT
- Facilitates resolution of open APQP items between supplier and company departments
- Qualifies supplier manufacturing process in terms of quality and capacity
- Ensures on-time availability of complete PPAP documentation and parts
- Manages potential deviations through interim PPAP and works on timely resolution
- Manages permanent corrective actions addressing supplier incidents throughout the process as required
Value engineering and resourcing
- Contributes to gross matex achievement with ideas on waste reduction and product / process improvements
- Manages implementation of identified projects in analogy to the new product introductions process
Production quality
- Monitors supplier performance metrics and deploys improvement plans accordingly
- Performs periodic process audits at supplier sites and tracks gap closure
- Assists company with purchased component non-conformities and drives resolution plans as needed
- Actively ensures deployment of lessons learnt and best practices at supplier and shares across the commodity

Personality requirements and skills
- Communication in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent personal organization and capable to plan and manage his own work
- Work experience in a matrix environment within multinational teams
- Ability to meet commitments, results oriented, effective team work skills
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and execution of action plans
- Manufacturing plant and production machining process experience
- Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent and significant work experience
- Technical background in automotive or aerospace industry – preferably casting and / or machining
- Ability to understand drawings and technical specifications
- Six Sigma experience – Lean Expert or Black Belt is a plus
- Knowledge in product & process auditing, preferably based on VDA 6.3
- Knowledge of quality tools & practices such as AIAG - APQP, PPAP, D&PFMEA, DOE, ISO TS-16949…
- Problem solving analysis skills with a logical and methodical approach (8D, 5Why, Cause/Effect Diagram)
- Fluent spoken and written English – knowledge of a second language is a plus
