Position: Senior System Engineer
Workload: 100 % FTE
Unit: GB Technology (GPT)
Reports to: Manager, Compute Services
Location: Vienna, Austria

Nature and aim of the position
The holder of this position is responsible for designing, implementing and operating of centralized IT systems and IT infrastructure at Global Blue Technology.
This includes multiple business critical 24x7 production environments as well as the delivery of Global Blue (GB) internally used back-office IT services. Focus of the position is to ensure function, quality and in time/budget delivery of assigned projects, tasks and services.
The position is based in Vienna and embedded in a small, motivated team of system engineers with high level of responsibility and self-determination.

Main duties and responsibilities
plan, design, document and operate:
Microsoft server oriented infrastructure and systems
virtualization environments
enterprise class storage systems
provisioning systems and client deployment environments
backup and restore infrastructure
operate, keep up to date (incl. patching) and monitor the corporate system environment
plan and perform changes and extensions on the system landscape
analyze change request impact and hand documentation over to IT change management
provide 2nd level support and general technical support for GBT Service Center
manage resolution process with 3rd level support and/or external vendors
support HA, DR and BC implementations with proper systems design
maintain, audit and improve corporate infrastructure standards
support the problem management process
perform root cause analysis and lead problem resolution
define, monitor and report KPIs for all centralized IT services
perform proof of concept and feasibility studies
investigate new technologies
creating design documentation, white papers and operating procedures
provide procedures, check lists and other documents for GBT Service Center and other stake holders (feed the solutions and known errors database)

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)

Language skills

German - Upper intermediate (B2) and English - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

Profile and education
IT education concluded (Bachelor's or University of Applied Sciences degree in IT or related field or equivalent practical experience) preferred
German language skills (verbal) - preferred
excellent verbal and written communication (English), interpersonal and team skills, including the ability to work effectively with multinational contacts (senior management, IT development, project management) and team members
strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
broad-based general IT competence
high quality standards, accuracy and high risk awareness
ability to manage and respond to changes in priorities
independent, goal-oriented and self-motivating personality
ability and willingness to work as “on call” engineer (24 hour on call duty) optional
Specific skills and knowledge
minimum 5 years of professional experience as IT system engineer
experience of complex technical infrastructures with business critical high availability requirements
experience with IT systems operations in a complex large scale environment (500+ servers, 1500+ devices)
programming and scripting knowledge (e.g. Windows PowerShell)
good understanding of all or some of the technical areas below:
Microsoft Server Operating Systems
Load Balancing Technologies
Microsoft Skype for Business and/or Microsoft SharePoint
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
Microsoft System Center Operation Manager
VMware vSphere
Citrix XenApp
EMC storage systems
backup and restore methodologies

practice in writing documentation and technical papers
used to work with IT service management tools
