Job description, responsibilities and duties
As a Senior Java Backend Developer in the GCDS team, you will play a critical role in design and implement technical solution for our product development.
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debugging
• Write clean code to develop functional applications
• Troubleshoot and debug applications
• Perform Backend tests to optimize performance
• Manage cutting-edge technologies to improve legacy applications
• Collaborate with developers of other application to proper integrate our system into the BI chain.
• Gather and address technical and design requirements
• Provide training and support to internal team members
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Liaise with developers, designers and solution manager to identify new features
• Follow emerging technologies
• Contribute to the technical design and the continuous improvement of our services and interfaces.
• Cooperate with Solution Manager, Analysts, Technical Architects and business teams to architect technology solutions to meet business needs.
• Provide guidance on Development and Service Orchestration.
• Contribute to Define, communicate and enforce design/coding standards, Technical governance and design review.
• Influence Test Driven and Behaviour Driven development practices and Quality Engineering.
• Help train a team of aspiring, experienced and talented Java and Oracle developers.
• Identify root cause of complex technical issues that will require partnering with other teams and steer resolution.
• Deliver hands on leadership for application support, administration, and maintenance including product patches, migration, and release rollouts including troubleshooting product issues
• Improves architecture by tracking emerging technologies; evaluating their applicability to business goals and operational requirements.

• 5+ years of Experience in application design and development and/or languages (Java, J2EE, MQ, Web-Based Services)
• Familiarity with front-end languages (e.g. HTML, JavaScript and CSS)
• Strong Experience in application configuration and systems integration
• Strong Experience in application performance management (high performance tuning, scaling)
• Solid knowledge of current and emerging technologies to apply it towards solutions in business applications
• Experience in RDBMS, ORACLE
• Data storage and retrieval technologies
• Data integrity and distribution;
• Data flow optimization
• Knowledge of Automation technologies
• Experience delivering solutions using an Agile/Scrum methodology
