Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a Scrum Master & Agile Lead, with experience practicing one of the agile software development methodologies, ideally with experience working in organization developing Cloud or Datacenter infrastructure solutions, developing enterprise software solutions or similar. In this role you will ensure our development and engineering teams live the agile values and principles, follow the processes and practices they agreed to use. You will be practicing either Scrum or Kanban, or both, facilitating the associated events, guiding the team on how to use Agile/Scrum, removing impediments, helping to resolve cross-team dependencies, shielding the team from external interference, coaching the team members, supporting and educating the product owner(s). The team works on continuous improvement of DXC’s enterprise Private Cloud service offerings, based on micro-services architecture, with API-first, everything “as a Service” or “as Code” approach to handle requests from the customer portal or from other internal components and microservices. You will be member of a team of infrastructure engineers, developers, architects and QA testers participating on the technical design, modeling, coding, testing and release of the automated cloud solutions to production.

Responsibilities:

  • Run daily, weekly and monthly agile rituals efficiently and diligently
  • Monitor sprint progress to identify and help resolve blockages, deviation from the sprint goal, progress of the story point burn-down
  • Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel
  • Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values
  • Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization, identify problems and gaps and coach the team or organization to higher levels of maturity
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improve transparency
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially on backlog refinement and maintaining the product backlog
  • Provide all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2) and Slovak - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certifications are advantage
  • At least 5 years of experience in an IT related field
  • At least 2 years hands-on experience practicing the Scrum Master role in a team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices and theory, or a comparable experience
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Experience using agile development tools such as JIRA, Rally, or VersionOne
  • Knowledge of other agile approaches like XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc. is an advantage
  • Experience supporting or leading a transition from traditional waterfall to scrum or other agile development methodology is an advantage
  • Experience with scaled agile frameworks is a great benefit
  • Awareness of and experience with agile techniques and principles like user stories, relative estimating, velocity, definition of done, burndown charts, social contract, agile games
  • Independent problem solver with troubleshooting, decision making and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
  • Willingness to learn
