Job description, responsibilities and duties

Job description:
  • Act as expert for TV technology development related projects including multiple cross-country TV service developments and deployments, focusing on backend components, like, but not limited to, Content Management Systems (CMS), media signal transcoding (Head-End) and encryption (DRM), streaming AV pipes including Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and core TV platform (TV Middleware)
  • Preparation of High Level Solution Designs, feasibility studies, architecture concepts and technical Functional and Non-Functional Requirement Specification as well as acceptance test procedures
  • Create Low Level Design and Deployment Procedure Description
  • Provide technical solution for the TV platform and subsystems depending on the project objectives
  • Coordination and vendor management of internal and external vendors within the projects – on demand
  • Contribute to and/or lead project review activities (project plans, requirement, design and test case) to assume joint responsibility with other team members on quality and schedule
  • Prepare and evaluate integration plans of new technology components
  • Review technical studies and design proposals for applications
  • Create API integration plans
  • Guide VNF (application) integration with Openstack cloud environment

Key Performance Indicators / Key responsibilities and deliverables:
  • As part of the Pan-European TV team, the expert is responsible for planning and designing OTT TV and IPTV, HybridTV solutions
  • The expert is responsible for the implementation of relevant technical applications. This may include workstream coordination as well as steering external partners and suppliers from technical viewpoint
  • Overall responsibility: Responsible for planning, implementation of TV platform (Backend) solutions and components
  • Provide Total Costs of Ownership calculations
  • Provide Architectural guidance, cooperate with senior experts and Solution Architects
  • Provide technical and process related guidance to maintain and further improve our DEVOPS framework
  •  Education:Master’s in computer science, Information Technology/Systems or related field
  •  Professional knowledge, skills, know-how in the field & experience in the field:At least 6 years of experience in large scale international IT companies (e.g. tier1 telco or IT service provider)
  • Proven track record in OSS/BSS integration, services migration into private or public cloud, fulfilling Enterprise Architect or Solution Architect (SA) role in large scale international Telco or IT service provider or Financial companies
  • Considered as a big plus: proven track record in IPTV / OTT TV, video on demand, media delivery systems topics or any other broadcast, streaming or content management related technologies/projects
  • Proven track record in documentation, standardization and test protocol creation, process/workflow planning, service migration (at least in two)
  •  Language skills:English language – fluent (excellent verbal and written communication skills)
  •  Interpersonal, communication skills:Proven ability/experience working in a multi layered international matrix organization
  • Experience in working with international teams (direct & indirect) from different cultural backgrounds and experience in managing external resources ensuring clarity, collaboration and efficiency
  • Excellent team player

  • Public/Private Cloud Architectures (Openstack, AWS or Azure certification is a plus)
  • Strong technical knowledge of high scale OTT systems and architectures
  • Strong technical background on video encoding (H.264, HEVC/H.265) is a big plus
  • Good understanding of video packaging and OTT streaming (HLS, DASH, HDS, HSS) is a plus
  • Good understanding of DRM solutions and offerings (Google Widevine, MS PlayReady, Verimatrix, Adobe Primetime, Apple FairPlay) and/or other encryption solutions
  • Experienced in headends (encoders/transcoders/packetizes) – considered as a plus
  • Experienced in Openstack VNF integrations, OSS/BSS adaptations or service migrations
  • Strong technical knowledge in IT security
  • DEVOPS experience is considered as a strong plus
